2.) "Wow! I can book xyz DJ service and save a 100 bucks!"

The Bad News: Well, a 100 bucks saved might cost you $1,000's later. This group of DJs are all over the map, a majority of them are not legitimate companies. However, many large Michigan wedding reception DJ companies fall into this category. They employ or contract out 10-20 wedding disc jockeys per weekend, and therefore can make a profit (smaller profit margin with a lot of DJs) to support large ads and office space. So since you are hyped about the idea of saving a 100 bucks, ask youself:
How can any below average vendor compliment my above average wedding? How many photos can a photographer seriously take with an empty dance floor? Will my guests stay long enough to enjoy the food? Will that $$$ go to waste too? Is their equipment the same kind that is in my living room? What happens if it fails? Is saving a 100 bucks on the DJ really worth the outcome of my wedding reception?Do you see how a 100 bucks saved can turn into $1,000's wasted? Sometimes there really is an added value that might be full professional stage lighting, props, sometimes two (or three) DJs, and even dancers. Other times, this is just an over inflated price determined by the owner's ego. We don't think you should take out a second mortgage just to afford quality entertainment. Really investigate what you are getting, and for what price. You should probably ask yourself if it is really necessary or just overkill.
